Queensland kids triumph in trampoline event
01/07/2009 Eight members of a small junior gymnastics club in Queensland, Australia, triumphed against their more established rivals at a recent meeting.
A number of medals and ribbons were brought home by the Gympie Gymnastics Club from the Interclub Trampoline Sports Competition at Redcliffe last weekend, which welcomed enthusiastic competitors from across the state.
Youngsters aged eight and upwards competed in a range of events, with Mikaela Cleary proving the star of the show in two of her categories, reports the Gympie Times.
She took first place in the Level 4 Individual Trampoline and Level 5 tumbling competitions, drawing on her five years' experience in the popular activity to stand head and shoulders above the rest.
Meanwhile, other club members such as Elaine Nakon, 10, and Christopher Mooney, 10, were taking part in their first ever trampolining event.
Last month, a post on The Health Guide blog claimed that working out on a trampoline is both fun and an effective way of keeping fit.
"Whether you buy in a mini or a large exercise trampoline, you can be sure you will be investing your money wisely towards a healthy future for you and your kids," the post said.
