Reading gets public trampoline
30/03/2010 Children in Berkshire will be able to enjoy the benefits of a trampoline after a play park re-opened in the county.
Palmers Park play area in the east of Reading was officially re-launched on Saturday (March 27th), with £132,000 of funding going towards an overhaul of the facility, Get Reading reports.
As well as a trampoline, the park now boasts giant boulders, buddy swings, a rope-end swinger and open-air tennis tables and will encourage youngsters to exercise outdoors as the summer weather comes in.
John Ennis, from Reading Borough Council's children's services, told the newspaper: "Play is an absolutely vital part of children's development and we believe it's massively important to give them every encouragement to enjoy playing outdoors on up-to-date play equipment."
The Sentinel recently reported that residents of Audley in Cheshire have won £50,000 of funding to improve play area facilities for kids in the region.
