Safe trampolining 'maximises fun'
06/07/2009 Trampolining can be great fun for all, especially if simple safety rules are adhered to, it has been claimed.
According to the Daily Herald, the "hours of fun that comes from bouncing up and down" can often be compromised by injuries resulting from falls especially where trampoline safety enclosures are not used.
The editorial piece says that despite new, safer trampoline designs mitgating some of the risks, some basic guidelines should always be followed.
Echoing the guidance of the American Academy for Pediatrics, the Daily Herald says no more than one person should jump at a time and there should always be adult supervision.
Trampoline safety enclosures should be used and a safety pad should cover the steel rim and springs, it is claimed.
In addition, nobody under six years of age should be allowed to jump and flips and somersaults should be banned, the newspaper says.
Telstar Trampolines recently claimed to offer the safest trampoline products on the market.
