Safety precautions 'necessary for trampolines'
16/07/2009 Families who use outdoor trampolines in their gardens this summer should ensure they take all necessary safety precautions, it has been suggested.
Writing to Estacada News, Crystal Lawler-Stiles of Eagle Creek, Oregon, US, said injuries and accidents are all too commonplace where safety is not prioritised comments which may encourage trampoline owners to invest in safety net enclosures for smaller children.
She explained how the trampoline had proved to be a source of pleasure and enjoyment for her children but warned that fun must be balanced with sensible play.
"With four boys and one girl who are extremely athletic, we never thought twice about having a backyard trampoline. We loved watching the kids play on the trampoline," Ms Lawler-Stiles stated.
The Daily Herald recently reported how Cathy Rubey of Downers Grove, Illinois, instructed other parents to supervise their children when playing on a trampoline.
