Somerset trampoline team 'heads to nationals'
17/07/2009 A group of keen athletes from Somerset will be among those competing at this weekend's British Trampoline Championships, it has been reported.
This Is the West Country reports how six members of the Wellington Whirlwinds Trampoline Club will be hoping for glory at the sport's national showpiece event at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena.
Becky Cottey, Laurel Cottey, Charlotte Holder and Milo Cole will be competing in the double mini trampoline class, while Amy Gillard and Polly Johns will go for glory in the trampoline category.
Jason Richardson, the Whirlwinds' head coach, told the news provider that the gymnasts had worked "incredibly hard" during the competition season and it would be "an honour" taking the team to Birmingham.
Trampoline Technical Committee chair Martin Laws has predicted a bumper crowd for the 2009 championships the 50th staging of the event.
He added: "This year is going to be a great opportunity for everyone to experience the terrific atmosphere with the UK's best talent being showcased."
