Special needs school receives trampoline grant
19/05/2010 Disabled children in Aberdeen are benefiting from new trampoline equipment thanks to a grant from a local round table.
Pupils at Hill of Banchory Primary School were granted a £400 donation for the trampoline, which it is hoped will develop their self esteem and confidence, the Press and Journal reports.
Helen Fowler, a support for learners teacher at Hill of Banchory Primary, told the newspaper that jumping on the trampoline will also aid the children's "concentration, listening skills, memory and balance".
Ms Fowler added that the positive effects are already being seen within the school.
"It's for children who might find learning tricky and it has helped them develop and transfer skills," she explained.
Merryfields Special School in Staffordshire has also recently received money to redesign their playground, including the addition of a sunken trampoline.
This Is Staffordshire reported that the school raised £1,000 through a pirate themed fun day to celebrate its 25th anniversary, which was attended by former pupils, staff and local residents.
