Stay fit by moving outdoor play activities inside this Christmas
11/12/2009 The cold winter weather does not mean you have to abandon outdoor play activities, according to one organisation committed to reducing childhood obesity.
According to MEND, a number of exercises which would usually be done outdoors can be performed safely within the comfort of your own home.
Paul Martin, spokesperson at MEND, said: "Set up a room in the house with areas for stretches, skipping, knee-ups, star jumps and any other exercise you can safely do indoors. If you have stairs at home you can climb these as part of your circuit too."
He added that putting on some of the family's music is a great way to get everyone moving around.
One item that Mr Martin did not mention, but which is an ideal piece of indoor exercise equipment, is a mini trampoline. Mini trampolines can be as small as 48 inches in diameter and just eight inches high. Some models even have removable legs which make them easier to store when not in use.
