Stolen trampoline returned to young girl
29/04/2010 One very lucky young girl will be able to enjoy jumping on her trampoline this bank holiday after it was returned by police.
The trampoline was stolen from the back garden of three-year-old Lana Elliott over the weekend, the Sunderland Echo reports.
However, just days later police discovered the lost item of outdoor play equipment.
Sergeant James Cowell and Pc Paul Whelan uncovered the trampoline in the village of Sherburn Hill, near Durham, after receiving information from a local resident.
Amanda Carr, Lana's mother, told the news provider: "Since I got it for her more than a year and a half ago, she's on it all the time. She loves it."
She added her praise for the local police force.
The news follows a story reported by This Is Lancashire last week about a group of vandals who offered to pay for the damage they caused to a trampoline at their local play area.
After seeing a report in their local newspaper, the youngsters, which were aged between 11 and 13, visited the owner to apologise and provide the funds to replace the equipment and clean up the area.
