Sunderland trampoline ace has Olympic hopes
22/03/2010 A youth in Sunderland who has shown great promise on the trampoline has his eye set on entering the Olympic Games in 2016.
Ben Cowan, who is nine years old, has only been practising his trampoline skills for 12 months but has already won second prize at the national schools finals for the sport missing out on first place by two marks.
According to the Sunderland Echo, the youngster currently trains at the local Washington Leisure Centre, where his coach has spoken with his parents Melanie and Neil Cowan about possible entry into the global competition.
Melanie told the newspaper: "It just started out as something for him to do, a nice hobby, then all of a sudden people were telling me how good he was. It is just amazing. I don't know where he gets the talent from."
This is the West Country recently reported that local resident Laura Gallagher is in the running to win the trip of a lifetime to train in Canada after being identified as a rising trampoline star.
