25/08/2009 Two youngsters are celebrating after their faultless trampoline routine gave them the US national championship.
Rockford's K.J. Heger and partner Jeffrey Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands won the synchronized trampoline title at the Visa Trampoline and Tumbling Championships held last week in Dallas, Texas, reports the Rockford Register Star.
Heger, 16 is now within touching distance of the world age group championships to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, which is held concurrently with the 26th Trampoline World Championships.
"That's what I've been training for all my life," Heger, who is a member of Gymnastic Academy of Rockford, told the news provider. "I want to get a medal."
Heger started on the trampoline at age seven. He placed fourth in the world age group championships in 2007 and 11th in 2005.
Because of his top three finishes in Dallas, Heger qualifies for the final election competition held in September in Las Vegas.
