Teacher plans to introduce children and parents to trampolining
25/09/2009 Children and adults in Buckinghamshire are to be given the chance to experience the joys of trampolining as part of a 'family sports spectacular'.
Aimed at opening people's eyes to sports and activities outside of the norm, the one-day event will see a school in the town of Beaconsfield host a number of local clubs and teams.
Alongside the Henley Rowing Club and members of South Buckinghamshire Council, local trampolining enthusiasts will be on hand to give visitors an insight into the sport, with organiser and local year four teacher Andy Riff confident that, by giving children and adults alternatives to traditional sports such as rugby and football, many more will choose to become active.
"I did this five years ago at another school and the parents absolutely loved it too," he told the Buckinghamshire Advertiser.
"There be activities for them as well, everybody will get involved."
The event, will take place on Saturday September 25th and will also give visitors the chance to try their hand at ultimate Frisbee, short tennis and karate, as well as trampolining.
Earlier this month, Coventry teenager Emma Armitage won a Dame Kelly Holmes double gold award for helping children try out a new sport, in her case introducing blind and partially-sighted children to trampolining.
