Trampoline athlete competing to win Canada trip
19/03/2010 A rising trampoline star is in the running to win the trip of a lifetime to train in Canada.
Laura Gallagher from the West Country has been training on the trampoline since she was 12 years old and has competed in a number of national and international championships.
She is now on British Airways' shortlist of Great Britons and is in the running to win a flight to Canada, which would allow her to train in Montreal.
The Great Britons competition aims to rewards those who "demonstrate the values associated with Olympic and Paralympic Games". It recognises musicians, designers and artists as well as sports stars.
Ms Gallagher told This is the West Country: "If I won the trip, I would be able to use equipment that is not available in the UK, like bungee ropes that let you try out new moves and help orientation."
Members of the public and fellow trampoline athletes are being encouraged to vote for Ms Gallagher on the Great Britons website before the poll closes in ten days.
Ms Gallagher has also been included among the 19 athletes who will represent Great Britain at the European Trampoline Championships in April which was announced earlier this week.
