Trampoline athlete wins sports award
06/04/2010 A trampoline athlete from Hampshire has been flying the flag for the discipline as she took home a local sports award.
Avril Sharpe won the award for Disabled Sportswoman of the Year at the recent Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports awards which took place late last month.
The Basingstoke Gazette reports that in 2009 Sharpe was called up to the Great British Gymnastics and Movement for People with Disabilities squad among other achievements.
Gymnast Skye White was also nominated in the category.
Other winners included Hannah Parker, who claimed Junior Sportswoman of the Year having competed in the modern pentathlon, and the Basingstoke Bisons' under-14s ice hockey team who won the national title this year.
Another of Britain's up-and-coming trampoline athletes, Bradley Hampson, was given Young Sports Personality of the Year at the Liverpool City Council sports awards.
Hampson has previously competed in national and international competitors. He is due to represent Great Britain in the European Trampoline Championships in Bulgaria later this month.
