Trampoline athletes head to BUCS Championship
10/03/2010 The day trampoline athletes across the UK have been waiting for is finally here as the British Universities and Colleges Sports Championships kick off in Sheffield.
Over 6,000 student sportsmen and women are expected to compete in the event which runs between March 10th and 14th.
This year marks the first time that trampoline disciplines have been included in the championship. The trampoline finals are being held on March 14th at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre.
Commenting on the decision earlier this year, Karen Rothery, BUCS chief executive, said the move is "a hugely positive step and illustrates our desire to continue developing the scope of the event to include as many students and sporting disciplines as possible."
The achievements of a young trampoline athlete were also recognised recently at Liverpool's annual sports award.
Bradley Hampson took home the award for Young Sports Personality of the Year following great performances at the World Age Group Championships in Russia last year.
