Trampoline classes 'improve confidence'
26/01/2010 Children in New Zealand have been experiencing the benefits of trampoline exercise during after-school classes, reports stuff.co.nz.
New Zealand is currently experiencing its summer season and a number of reports have been appearing in the local press about the growing popularity of trampolines, particularly over the Christmas period.
In an article looking into the benefits of outdoor and indoor play activities after school, stuff.co.nz spoke to Olli Ricken, a circus owner who has been running classes for local children for several years. Classes include instruction on trapeze and trampoline skills.
She said: "Most of them do it for fun. We get kids that do not want to do competitive sport."
Ms Ricken believes that parents kept paying for their children to take part in classes because they could see their confidence growing and the level of fun they were having.
While summer is still a few months away in the UK, it would still be worth investing in a trampoline to encourage children to spend some time out of doors, which will help improve their physical and social development.
