Trampoline classes to improve student performance
03/09/2009 A school in the US has taken the mantra of "a healthy body means a healthy mind" to a new level.
Arizona Virtual Academy's weekly visits to the Jump Up Gym are aimed at getting students healthy, which they believe will improve performance in the classroom, reports yumasun.com.
Jena Kugel, who teaches at the online public school, is a strong advocate for maintaining a rigorous physical routine.
"If a student is sluggish and does not exercise, he or she will more than likely have a hard time being motivated to study," she said.
Jump Up is a "power tumbling" gym which mainly relies upon a "pit-set" trampoline and a "double-mini" trampoline.
Rob Spiewak, one of four Jump Up coaches, told the news provider that once students get through basic skills such as the seat drop, he is looking forward to promoting them through their intermediate and advanced exercises.
According to Vntinh.com, trampolines are a great way for kids and adults to stay fit and have fun at the same time.
"Bouncing on one of these pieces of equipment burns more calories and works your body more effectively than many people realise," it added.
