Trampoline club closes its doors after 31 years
30/09/2010 A trampoline club is to close its doors after more than 30 years as the dedicated coach has been forced to retire.
Kath New, aged 65, has been guiding members of the Thurrock Kestrals trampoline club for 31 years, the Thurrock Gazette reports.
However, Ms New and her daughter who run the club are now being forced to retire because of health reasons.
Ms New told the news provider: "I am choked about having to close the club. I have taken this decision because as coach I am responsible, and I want the best for our pupils."
She added that they have been trying to find alternative trampoline clubs for the 24 children to attend, but this means many of them having to travel to nearby Brentwood, or Wickford, which is further afield.
It is hoped that the club will reopen once new coaches have been trained up in a couple of years.
Aspire Springers trampoline club in Gloucestershire has also been hitting the headlines recently, as it has been nominated in a number of categories at a local sports awards.
