Trampoline club opens doors to adults for first time
30/12/2009 Adults in the Epping Forest area of Essex will get to try their hand at trampoline skills for the first time, reports the Epping Guardian.
The Loughton Flyers Trampoline club is already popular among children, but from January 2010 it will be opening its doors to adults for the first time ever. Lessons have been organised in conjunction with Epping Forest District Council and will run for two hours every Saturday starting from January 23rd at 11:00 GMT.
Fabrizio Luca Ferrari, the authority's assistant sports development officer, told the newspaper that people often underestimate the benefits which can be gained from trampoline exercise.
He said: "If I were to ask you what sport gives the best total body work out most people would answer running or swimming - but they would be wrong Studies by NASA scientists show that trampolining is 68 per cent more effective than running and out performs swimming as an all round exercise, but yet requires a lot less effort."
The health benefits associated with trampoline exercise include improved balance, muscle strength, co ordination and overall body fitness.
Sessions at Debden Park High School in Willingale Road cost just £6 per hour after an initial insurance fee of £15 has been paid.
