Trampoline club puts on strong performance at championships
11/10/2010 A trampoline athlete from Swindon has claimed glory in the British Veterans Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Owen Hall, from the Swindon School of Gymnastics Club, took gold in the recreational over 19s category, despite it being his first championship, This Is Wiltshire reports.
Jake Hall and Christine Bishop both also took medals in their respective over 30s categories, with both claiming second place.
Overall, three members of the club were crowned new British champions, with a number of others performing well within the rankings.
Coach Wendy Payne told the news provider that she was very pleased with the performance of her team.
"I am so proud of them all. They have all improved and for some of them it certainly didn’t look like it was their first national competition," she said.
In other trampoline competition news, Jess Batham, from Scunthorpe, was recently chosen to train the Great Britain team ahead of an international competition next month.
Ms Batham, who teaches at John Leggott College, will be travelling to Budapest, Hungary, with some of the best trampoline athletes in the country, This Is Scunthorpe reports.
