Trampoline coach chosen to train GB team
05/10/2010 A PE teacher from Lincolnshire has been chosen to lead the Great Britain trampoline team to glory at an upcoming international competition.
The British trampoline team are due to travel to Budapest, Hungary, next month and Jess Batham, who teaches at John Leggott College, Scunthorpe, is tasked with training them, This Is Scunthorpe reports.
Ms Batham has been training on the trampoline since she was 13 and was the UK national champion in 2005.
She told the news provider that she always looks to teach people about the fun side of trampoline exercise, and not just the fitness benefits.
"I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity as it is only available to the highest performing coaches from across the country," she added.
Currently, Ms Batham is in training for her level 5 elite coaching exam, which she is due to sit early next year.
In local trampoline news, Gloucester-based trampoline club Aspire Springers' coach Dawn Lawson has been nominated for the Coach of the Year accolade at a local sports awards.
