Trampoline coach nominated for sports award
25/02/2010 A trampoline coach is in the running for a local award recognising their contribution to sport, the East Kilbride News reports.
Olivia Sorbie, who works with the East Kilbride Trampoline Club, has been nominated for coach of the year in the town's annual sports awards.
For 20 years, Ms Sorbie has been giving up nine hours of her time per week to help youngsters in the region learn to trampoline.
The newspaper explained: "She guided her team to the World Championships in Russia in November and they returned home with two silver medals, among countless other achievements at home and abroad."
Results of the awards will be announced in a ceremony on March 23rd at the Village Theatre.
Jim Ballantyne, chairman of the sports council, told the newspaper that the standard of nominations was extremely high this year. He also extended his thanks to the parents, children and clubs supporting the awards.
It was also announced recently that the go-ahead has been given to build the venues which will hold the trampoline events at the London 2012 Olympics.
