Trampoline coach wins volunteering award
07/04/2010 A young sportswoman from Bideford has become the latest trampoline enthusiast to earn recognition for her contribution to the sport.
The North Devon Gazette reports that 17-year-old Charlotte Broadhead scooped the accolade for Young Volunteer of the Year at the annual Active Devon awards.
She was nominated for her work with the Bideford Bouncers Trampoline Club and Titans Netball Club, where she coaches local youngsters.
Broadhead was also the Regional Ambassador for the British College of Sports last year and will be representing the region at the British Colleges National Trampoline Championships later this month.
She is the second trampoline athlete in as many weeks to win a local sports award.
Avril Sharpe won the award for Disabled Sportswoman of the Year at the recent Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sports awards, the Basingstoke Gazette reports.
In 2009, Sharpe was called up to the Great British Gymnastics and Movement for People with Disabilities squad.
