Trampoline competition attracts over 100 participants
24/02/2010 Over 100 young trampoline enthusiasts took part in a sporting competition in Wisbeach recently, according to local reports.
The Wisbeach Standard reports that the Fenland Flyers second invitational was a testament to the growing popularity of the sport in the UK. In total, 160 competitors from six different clubs took part in the event at the Hudson Leisure centre earlier this month.
Almost all of the children from the Fenland Flyers finished in a top ten position with the club racking up a total of 22 top three places and ten team medals. Some trampoline athletes were competing for the first time, yet still managed to take home a trophy, according to the newspaper.
Following the event, the club praised the parents, leisure centre and Eastern Rent a Van for their efforts in helping the day go so smoothly.
Trampoline athletes of student age will also be gearing up for their debut at the British Universities and Colleges Sport Championship next month. The event in Sheffield will see over 6,000 students compete in a number of different disciplines.
