Trampoline competition rules to change
21/05/2010 Trampoline athletes will be marked on extra criteria in competitions next year in accordance with new international rules.
Flight time will now be factored into the scoring system for trampoline competitions taking place after January 1st 2011.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) in the Manhattan Hotel in Chiba, Japan.
Reference Judges will be introduced to all FIG World Championship events following a decision by the executive council.
Most disciplines will see the new system introduced in 2013, however, reference judges will preside over trampoline events from next year.
A proposal, by representatives from Italy, to increase the number of teams competing in the Olympics from 12 to 16 was rejected.
British trampoline athletes have been performing well in international competitions this year, returning from the European Championship's in Bulgaria with a string of medals.
The team came back with two gold, five silver and six bronze medals in trampoline, tumbling and double-mini trampoline events.
