Trampoline exercise 'provides a fun and effective workout'
09/09/2010 Jumping on a trampoline is so much fun that you won't even realise you're doing exercise, it has been suggested.
Writing for the Daily Mail, Claire Bates explained that trampoline exercise helps improves flexibility and balance, while also being kind to your joints.
Jumping on a trampoline, also known as rebounding, mainly helps with strengthening the core muscles, Ms Bates explained.
"Your quadriceps, hamstrings and gluts are flexed to begin the jumping motion and absorb the impact on the way back down. The feet and calf muscles also stretch and contract as you bounce," she added.
However, Ms Bates warned that you should "listen to your body" and not overstretch yourself to avoid feeling a few aches and pains the next day.
A number of celebrities say that they rely on trampoline exercise to help maintain their figures.
Burlesque star Dita Von Teese told the Suicide Girls website that she jumps on a mini trampoline to music for a "killer cardio workout" and singer turned actress Mandy Moore told Shape magazine that her new year's resolution was to exercise on her mini trampoline more.
