Trampoline film celebrates Cultural Olympiad
23/09/2009A film which features a trampoline act will be shown in a series of celebrations during next year's Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver.
British Columbia choreographer Wen Wei Wang's film shows performers reaching new heights with the help of a trampoline.
The performance is a reinvention of an ancient Chinese Song Dynasty Dancing and is among 16 shorts chosen for screening at the live celebration sites during next year's Cultural Olympiad.
A film which studies and focuses on the body in motion, Wang's short will be among 70 new performances that will form part of next year's celebration.
The cultural festival starts on January 22nd 2010 just before the first events in the 2010 Winter Olympics - and will go on until the end of the Paralympic Games on March 21st.
It is a festival which aims to engage Vancouver residents and tourists visiting the region for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, and is meant to showcase the artists and performers from British Columbia.
David Guscott, executive vice-president of celebrations and partnerships for the Vancouver Organising Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, said: "With their (Sponsor Bell) assistance we have assembled an unprecedented program of contemporary Canadian art and artists."
