Trampoline fundraiser makes ?1,000
15/01/2010 More than 100 people took part in a 24 hour trampoline marathon to raise money for new gym equipment, reports Redhill and Reigate Life.
Members of the Springfit trampoline club in Horley and the Pointers trampoline club in Caterham took up the challenge to jump on a trampoline for 24 hours. In total the group raised over £1,000 for pre-school soft play equipment, asymmetric and high bars.
Adam Reynolds, from Springfit, told the newspaper: "Fundraising can have its challenges, but this event is by far the most challenging feat the clubs have ever attempted."
He added: "There was a lot of positive feedback from beaming club members and families who came to show their support and help the teams out."
A number of club members also took the opportunity to set individual records during the challenge. In the small hours of the morning one coach managed an impressive 4,000 consecutive back bounces over 70 minutes.
Jumping on a trampoline is said to be one of the most efficient forms of exercise, with just ten minutes of exercise giving the same benefits as half an hour spent running.
So it's understandable that at the end of the event Mr Reynolds said the first thing most of the fundraisers would do was catch up on some much needed sleep.
