Trampoline fundraiser organised for disabled toddler
05/02/2010 People are being asked to donate money to help a three-year-old girl fulfil her dream of playing outside and purchase a trampoline, reports the Sunderland Echo.
The newspaper reports that Bethany Egglestone, who struggles with a number of disabilities, is unable to play in her family's back garden because of problems with potholes.
Wellwishers are now hoping to raise £3,000 to renovate the garden with murals and play items, including a mini trampoline to help Bethany improve her muscle strength.
Paula lamb, Bethany's mother, told the newspaper: "She's really unsteady on her feet and we really need somewhere for her to feel safe, secure and confident to play. This would also play a big role in her development."
Trampoline exercise is known to have a number of benefits for children including improved balance, co ordination and muscle tone.
Activities which have been organised include 6.8 mile fancy dress rollerskate from South Shields to the Pullman Lodge at Roker on March 7th, a wedding fair where Bethany will appear as a flower girl on March 21st and an evening and auction with a local radio DJ.
The newspaper reports that anyone looking for more information should contact , phone Paul Thompson at Antique 2 Modern Interiors on the local 0191 5674447.
