Trampoline glory for Staffordshire student
08/12/2010 A young trampoline enthusiast achieved an impressive third place at the Manchester University Trampoline Open at the weekend.
The bronze medal earned 20-year-old Lewis Harratt, a student at Staffordshire University, his first trophy in four years of tough competition.
With trampoline athletes arriving from universities across the UK, the event saw competitors battle it out before a panel of judges, performing both a set and a voluntary routine, each consisting of ten moves.
"I didn't expect to finish in the top three, the highest I have ever come before is seventh, so I was hoping to come in the top ten again," Mr Harratt told student reporter Richard Latham for StaffsLIVE.
Despite his success, the trampoline medallist, now in his final year at university, is yet to decide whether he will pursue a career in sport upon graduation.
Last month, a South African woman became the country's first trampoline gymnastics medal winner for 28 years.
