Trampoline helps aerial skiing star

11/03/2010
A possible future US aerial skiing star has said that he uses a trampoline to help practice his prize-winning jumps.

The Snowmass Sun reports that 20-year-old Matt Terral of Aspen has been working on his signature freestyle moves for many years and competes in a number of events each season.

At the tender age of 13, Mr Terral had already managed to win the Big Air competition in Snowmass three times. He has even won a gold medal at the junior Olympics.

"My favourite jump now is a switch corked 900. We learn all the tricks on the trampoline first and then work them out in the slopestyle park," he told the newspaper.

One of the UK's Winter Olympians also has a trampoline to thank for her success.

Sarah Ainsworth competed for Britain in the aerial skiing event at the games in Vancouver last month, even though just three years ago she was unable to ski.

Scouts spotted her doing a trampoline display at a ski show and persuaded her to take up the winter sport, according to This is London.
