Trampoline helps slimmer mum keep weight off
12/01/2011 A garden trampoline is being used by one north-east mum to maintain a healthier lifestyle, after she lost one-quarter of her body weight in just 23 weeks.
Jean Pike, a 43-year-old hotel worker from South Shields, told the Jarrow and Hebburn Gazette how she had quit smoking and shed 3st 3lb by eating better and exercising outdoors.
The mother of four said she felt like a new woman, with her new aim being to keep the weight off and maintain a healthier lifestyle, and a garden trampoline may be able to help.
"My daughter Emily is just five. She likes to ride her bike and play on the trampoline, so I need to keep up with her," Ms Pike explained.
Earlier this week, Dr Marilyn Glenville, a nutritionist specialising in female wellbeing, suggested that healthy eating and regular outdoor play activities, such as bouncing on a trampoline, could reduce women's risk of breast cancer.
