Trampoline helps woman lose 100 lbs
24/11/2009 A woman who lost over 100 lbs and kept it off for five years credits using a trampoline as a kick start to her healthier life, reports ThatsFit.com.
In her late teens Ali Shipp weighed 245 lbs (17.5 st) before her weight loss attempt. Now she weighs 135 lbs and posted her story on the website to inspire others to achieve the same.
As well as the multiple health benefits it was the low impact nature of the exercise that first tempted her to use a trampoline
Ali said: "I was too heavy to run or jog without jarring my knees and ankles, so I got a trampoline. I started with just 15 minutes every morning, then as my body started to change, I gradually increased the time."
She added that exercising on a trampoline in the morning got her "pumped up for the day".
Exercising on a trampoline is great for heavier people hoping to lose weight as the trampoline pad takes 80 per cent of the shock when you land, preventing stress on the joints. Even mini trampolines, which are smaller and easier to store, can take up to 280 lbs.
