Trampoline party leads to international recognition
04/11/2009 When Angela Foster first bounced on a trampoline at her friend's birthday party aged just five, nobody expected that ten years later she would be competing against the best in the world.
A year after her initiation at the party, she enrolled in the Gymagic trampoline summer programme aged six, and now she is preparing to head to Russia for the World Age Games later this month, reports the Victoria Advocate.
"Competing internationally has always been a dream," Angela told the news provider.
"Now that I've made it, I can hardly believe it is happening."
The gymnast added that she had received a lot of support from local people, but admitted to being very nervous.
Ms Foster will complete her Russian routine in the synchronized trampoline competition with her partner Alicia Powder.
Angela's family will have to foot most of the travel expenses to St Petersburg, which total $11,000 (£6,600).
However, this Saturday (November 7th) Angela's club Gymagic will play host to a fundraiser, which will include gymnastics skills demonstrations, a barbecue, raffles and games.
The World Age Games run concurrently with the 26th Trampoline World Championships, the first of which was held in London in 1964.
