Trampoline star heads to Russia to compete on three fronts
30/10/2009 One of Australia's up-and-coming gymnasts will head to Russia with high hopes.
Kaitlyn Duigan will be competing against the best in the world at the World Age Games in St Petersburg next month.
Before making the trip on November 12th, the 17-year-old gymnast, who coaches another member of the Australian squad, will be presented a prestigious award by Queensland PCYC, reports the Wynnum Herald.
A Certificate of Recognition for services to youth at the club as volunteer, athlete, mentor, judge and coach for a decade, as well as coaching her junior athlete Cooper McClymont to qualify for World Age Games team, has led to the recognition.
Duignan became the Australian national champion in the individual trampoline last month, before coming second in the double mini trampoline and fifth in the synchronised event.
The multi-talented youngster also competed at the Sports Aerobics National Championship in Melbourne this month and the Koru Challenge Yacht Race in Auckland.
Earlier this month, Reece Thompson from Wynnum recovered from a broken foot in order to claim his place in the Australia World Cup trampoline squad.
