Trampoline star sets his sights on the Chinese team
04/09/2009A young trampoline star is setting his sights on the Chinese gymnasts ahead of a world cup trampoline championship.
Logan Dooley of Lake Forest will be competing in Poland, and has been boosted by his international world cup event in Belgium last week, reports the OC Register.
"He's a fierce competitor," said Robert Null, who has coached the 21-year-old for 13 years. "He's not one to buckle under pressure. He's doing a really nice routine that's very close to what the Chinese are doing."
The coach added that if Dooley could replicate his recent result in Poland, it would be "incredible".
Dooley saw off two Olympic medallists to win the world cup event in Belgian last week, beating the 2004 gold medallist and the 2008 silver medallist and has high hopes for the World Championships in St Petersburg, Russia in November.
Mother Nancy Dooley told the news provider that her son had not realized he had made history until the administrator from the US Gymnastics Team and Tumbling came into the stands after the competition and told him.
