Trampoline stars in Olympic warm up event
05/11/2009 An event to mark 100 days until the start of the Winter Olympic and Paralympics Games saw a trampoline take centre stage.
Skiers and snowboarders were in New York to mark the exciting occasion at the Rockefeller Centre ice rink, reports the Associated Press.
Snowboarding superstar Gretchen Bleiler was on hand to speak to youngsters about the sporting occasion and even found time to answer some questions.
Jeret "Speedy" Peterson, a 2006 Olympian in aerial skiing, drew a huge crowd with his high-flying tricks on a trampoline, bouncing and flipping on a pair of skis.
Aerial skiers are using trampolines to practise their routines more and more.
While skiers spend the majority of their time on the slopes, during the summer months it proves more difficult due to the weather.
During the warmer months, skiers turn to trampolines and the swimming pool where they speed down ramps, then flip and twist in the air before plunging into the water.
