Trampoline teenager looks for ?2,000 funding
12/08/2009 A young trampoline enthusiast is looking to bounce to the World Championships in Russia later this year.
Tranmere teenager Luke Strong has only been bouncing on a trampoline since 2005, but the 15-year-old is being tipped for success after being spotted by Liverpool Trampolining Squad, according to Wirral News.
After starting at Grade 4, Luke progressed to Grade 1 the highest grade in just six months.
He has now set his sights on competing in a World Class Trampolining Championship in Russia in November for those training to be in the Olympics but in order to make the trip, he needs to raise £2,000.
Luke has represented Britain on several occasions, but with leotards alone costing as much £85, he needs financial help.
Barbara Dunn, secretary of the Tranmere Action Group, which founded the young people's trampoline group, told the news provider: "It is very expensive but we don't believe when you're as talented and committed as Luke that your background should hinder your ambitions."
This autumn will see the 26th Trampoline World Championships take place in St Petersburg, Russia. The first was held in London in 1964.
