Trampolines 'a fun way to get fit this summer'
20/07/2009 Youngsters looking for a way to have some fun and keep fit during the summer holidays could take up trampolining.
According to Aberdeen City Council, which will be hosting a trampolining and gymnastics summer school this August, bouncing on a trampoline is not only good fun but can also improve youngsters' balance, co-ordination and flexibility.
The activity can also act as a springboard to other sports.
Trampolining appears to be a popular way to keep children entertained this summer, with many groups across the nation offering lessons as part of summer activity sessions.
One expert recently advocated getting children involved in physical activities during the summer and when at school, suggesting that in addition to boosting their health this can help them develop useful life skills.
Speaking to Kiddicare.com, a spokesperson for the education union ATL, said: "We would support schools teaching a variety of different sports and physical activities because they all teach children about different things."
