Trampolines ? not just for youngsters
21/07/2009 Trampolining is not just for children and can also be enjoyed by the young of heart, as one activity group is proving.
As part of Spennymoor Council's Fit For Life programme, people over the age of 50 are being encouraged to try a variety of new activities, including trampolining, archery, salsa dancing and playing on a Nintendo Wii.
Speaking to the Spenny News, Stewart Doyle from the local primary care trust, said, "We've tried to develop a varied programme, each session will have qualified instructors who are willing to help the over 50s have fun and join in new things."
He added that the sessions are aimed at encouraging people to try something new and be physically active.
According to the Bazeebas.com blog, trampolining is great for strengthening the cardiovascular system and provides a good workout for almost every bone in the body.
It added that jumping on a trampoline is similar to a low-impact workout but easier on people's joints.
