Trampolines allow kids to enjoy exercising outdoors
18/02/2011 Parents have been told that there are countless outdoor play activities, such as trampolines for the garden, that can help children feel the benefits of exercising outdoors without compromising on fun.
According to the Southwark Weekender, adults often view health and fitness regimes as being limited to 'working out', but children are less likely to be motivated when exercise is made to feel like a chore.
Instead, the writer recommended outdoor play activities and garden equipment, such as trampolines and climbing frames, to combine the benefits of exercise with the enjoyment of outdoor fun.
They went on to say that buying equipment for children to use when exercising outdoors need not be expensive.
"Smaller toys like skipping ropes, bucket stilts or frisbees can provide hours of active fun," the news source explained.
Earlier this week, Dr Dean Marshall, from the British Medical Association, urged families to embrace good eating habits and start exercising outdoors to help curb the UK's soaring obesity-related death rates.
