Trampolines bring circus skills to South Wales
06/12/2010 Children in Pontypool, South Wales, have been enjoying the benefits of outdoor play and learning some exciting new trampoline skills, thanks to a special circus workshop at their school.
Pupils from Griffithstown Primary School were paid a visit by Kevin's Community Circus, from Birmingham, with trained performers teaching children through a range of outdoor play activities, the Free Press reported.
The normal school day was replaced with sessions of mini-cycle riding, trampolines and magic skills, while youngsters also had the chance to dress in vibrant circus costumes.
Deputy Head Nick Blackburn told the newspaper that the outdoor play equipment had gone down very well with the pupils and that he hoped to stage a similar event in the future.
"Kevin had lots of equipment in perfect working order and they were ideal for our age group," he added.
The company put on its own show, followed by a number of workshops with each class and a final performance with the specialist circus play equipment.
