Trampolines getting cardiac patients back to fitness
19/10/2009 Patients recovering from heart attacks are being helped to regain their fitness by using trampolines.
Weekly cardiac rehab sessions are being held at the Whiteoak Leisure Centre in Swanley, which see the attendees stretching, walking briskly, biking, stepping and using trampolines for 90 minutes, reports the News Shopper.
The sessions are attended by people aged between 50 and 80 who have suffered from a variety of heart conditions.
Instructor Sue Larken told the news provider: "It boosts their morale, and helps them to do something for themselves health-wise, and as well as physically, it helps with the mental side of things."
Trampolines are becoming an increasingly popular way for people to stay fit and healthy, with Trampoline coach for British Gymnastics, Anne-Sonia King recently telling the Press Association that she would definitely recommend trampolining as it increases strength and fitness of the muscles, reduces cholesterol and improves fitness.
