Trampolines help youngsters celebrate games success
28/10/2010 More than 5,000 people enjoyed a family event in Scotland this week, as trampolines and bouncy castles helped them celebrate the country's latest sporting achievement.
According to the Wishaw Press, a number of indoor and outdoor play activities, were hosted by the new £32 million Ravenscraig sports centre, to mark the Commonwealth Games coming to Scotland.
Youngsters were able to feel the benefits of outdoor exercise, by taking part in football and tennis matches, while trampolines and a wrestling tournament also proved popular.
"Other activities included face-painting, climbing, inflatable assault courses, bird of prey displays, bouncy castles, sumo suits and tri-golf," the newspaper reported.
The event was run as part of the Games for Scotland Active Nation programme, to celebrate the Commonwealth Games being handed over from Delhi to Glasgow.
Sporting Equals suggested earlier this week that, while sport is often considered by parents to be less important than academic study, activities such as exercising outdoors on trampolines can boost children's learning.
