Trampolines leave 'no excuse' for families not exercising outdoors
28/02/2011 An expert has suggested that, with the wide range of outdoor play activities available to families, there is "no excuse" for households not exercising outdoors, which may encourage parents to buy trampolines for the garden.
Celebrity trainer Steve Halsall claimed that it was "easy" for people to lose weight and get fit without medical assistance, but only if their approach is "consistent" and "determined".
"With families particularly there is no excuse. Getting out at the weekend as a family and walking places, it's not difficult. It costs nothing and [you] would probably be surprised over time [by the] impact that would have," he added.
For those looking for equipment and apparatus to enhance their outdoor play activities, Mr Halsall recommended buying bicycles, while trampolines for the garden are another fun way for both adults and kids to enjoy exercising outdoors.
His advice follows figures published last week by the NHS Information Centre, which suggest that hospital admissions for surgical treatments for obesity rose by 30 per cent in 2010.
