Trampolines provide a more 'risk free' form of exercise

15/01/2010 People can minimise the risk of injury from their fitness regime by exercising on a trampoline, according the writer of the SHL health and nutrition blog.

High impact exercises, such as running on a treadmill, are recognised as being hard on the body and in particular on the joints.

In contrast, trampoline exercise is very low impact as 80 per cent of your bounce is absorbed by the trampoline pad. This makes its suitable for those who often experience pain running or who are just beginning a new fitness routine.

According to the blog's author, Dave Vower, people who view trampolines simply as toys are missing out on a "terrific way to begin shedding pounds or developing a better muscle tone".

He said: "How can you not have fun losing weight and staying in shape by spending time with your family? Choosing a trampoline is a great way to do both."

Health benefits associated with exercising on a trampoline include improved balance, co ordination and overall body fitness.
