US trampoline stars celebrate world rankings
14/09/2009 Trampoline stars from the US are celebrating after they made history.
For the first time, the US men are in the top five in the International Gymnastics Federation's World Rankings for trampoline and tumbling.
Steven Gluckstein, from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, and Logan Dooley of Lake Forest, California, are second in the synchronised pair rankings.
Kalon Ludvigson of Pocatello, Idaho reigns fourth in men's tumbling, while Dooley sits in the same ranking in men's individual trampoline.
"We are very proud of the recent success our trampoline and tumbling athletes have had," said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics.
He added that their dedicated training and strong performances in the last two World Cup competitions had given them the platform to achieve the country's best showing in the World Rankings.
The US achieved its first World Cup Gold medal when they clinched the synchronized trampoline title in Ostend, Belgium earlier this year.
In November, the world's best trampolinists will gather in St Petersburg, Russia for the trampoline and tumbling world championships.
