Women 'should exercise for one hour a day'
25/03/2010 Women looking to maintain their current weight need to exercise outdoors or indoors for at least one hour per day, a new study has suggested.
Conducted by the Harvard Medical School in Boston, the Physical Activity and Weight Gain Prevention report revealed that health benefits can be won with 150 minutes of exercise each week, but more must be done to keep a good figure.
Published in The Journal of the American Medical Association, the research indicated that 60 minutes of moderate physical activity daily will ensure that the average female does not gain weight.
Dr I-Min Lee, one of those involved with the study, said: "It's a large amount of activity - if you're not willing to do a high amount of activity, you need to curtail your calories a lot."
Anik Giguere-Biollo, from stroller-advisor.com, recently suggested that trampoline exercise could be ideal for busy mums who have little time for a fitness regime.
