Young trampoline star prepares for Russian adventure
28/10/2009 A 12-year-old trampoline prodigy is on his way to Russia for the World Age Games after excelling at the final selection event in Las Vegas.
Jake Jacobson of the American Powerhouse team in Rocklin is packing his bags for St Petersburg for the trampoline equivalent to the Olympics which is to be held between November 14th and 22nd, reports Granite Bay.
In his next stage of preparation for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jake will be up against 53 other boys from 31 different countries.
Jake is currently the youngest elite junior athlete in the US after he finished in the top two at three qualifying events held throughout the last year, securing his place in the team.
"All season long everyone has been older than me," Jacobson told the news provider. "Their skills are more advanced than mine since this is just my first year at Junior Elite."
His parents, Susan and Ron, who own and operate American Powerhouse, coach their son.
"He had a very solid performance," Susan told the news provider.
The games run concurrently with the 26th Trampoline World Championships, the first of which was held in London in 1964.
