Youngsters perform well at trampoline championships
25/11/2009 Enthusiastic youngsters from Macclesfield put in a good performance at the north-west trampolining championships, reports the Macclesfield Express.
There were some good scores in the individual trampoline events with William Powell winning the competition for the under-14's boys group. Five others achieved second places in boys and girls events for a number of age groups.
Four trampoline teams from Macclesfield also competed in the championships. They won the under-14 girls, under-10 girls, under-14 boys and under-16 boys events.
The newspaper reports that two of the boys who competed, Alex and Will Powell, were crowned the under-15 boys champions at synchronised trampolining in the summer.
Recently James Higgins, one of Britain's top trampoline stars, told the BBC that he had high hopes for the sport in the future and was looking for a medal at the Olympic games in 2012. He also said that there was a lot of young talent to look out for.
Britain also picked up medals across all age groups at the World Trampolining Championships in St. Petersburg earlier this month.
